Hi guys this is HydraXD and this is my first ever guide on CRArena. Recently, I was looking at the most popular lava hound decks and found that nearly all of them were hound-miner or lava-lightning. Then I thought back to the days when the LavaLoon was popular and I wanted to try out a deck that involved LavaLoon but could also counter the new meta. I thought of the Lava Hound and Balloon (obviously), the Mega Minion, which is one of the strongest support cards even after its recent nerf (And no, I am not also referring to it as Meta Minion. That name drives me crazy!), and minions, one of the original big 3 in LavaLoon strategies. So without further wait, let's dive right into it. Lava Hound: The only legendary card in the deck (And sadly, as much as I tried finding substitutions, it is irreplaceable. This is also the main win condition, so make sure to play it wisely. Ideal placements for the hound are in the back two corners or if you can make a counterpush with surviving troops, then one tile from the bridge. The greatest part about the Hound is the pups that spawn after it dies. The pups, a balloon and mega minion can take down a tower in seconds even if at least two of them lock onto it. If your opponent has zap or arrows, you can bait them out using your minions or skarmy so that your pups inflict maximum damage. Balloon: This card has become a lot better with the recent update buffing its death damage. Now its death damage can kill archers at tournament standard. But the main point of this card is to get it to the tower and even one hit from it can be catastrophic. Always play it sandwiched between the hound and mega minion so that if your opponent plays a minion horde, the hound or mega minion will take the majority of the damage, giving you enough time to fireball the horde. Mega Minion: Not much to explain really. This card is found in almost all decks now due to its versatility on offense and defense. Is worth much more than the 3 elixir you play it for. Minions: Of course you need to have minions in a lavaloon strategy! I mostly use this card on defense but can be equally deadly on offense. Behind a lava hound it can take out support units destroying the hound or balloon. Furnace: You can replace this with tombstone if you want. I wanted to use this card since it has way more hit-points than tombstone and is a decent counter to other air decks or graveyard decks. Place it in the middle and with the help of both arena towers or just minions, you can take out elite barbs. Also useful for dealing chip damage to your opponent's arena towers. I recommend upgrading it to at least 6, though 7 is better since you will face a lot of level nines midway through frozen.
